Operations Manager - FMCG Manufacturing

Our client, a leading manufacturer in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector , is seeking an experienced and driven Operations Manager to oversee their manufacturing facilities in Centurion, Gauteng . This role is pivotal in ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality production operations. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the manufacturing process, from raw material procurement to finished goods dispatch, driving productivity, optimizing costs, and implementing lean manufacturing principles.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of FMCG production environments, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

• Oversee and manage all daily manufacturing operations to ensure efficient production, adherence to quality standards, and timely delivery.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to improve productivity, reduce costs, and enhance overall efficiency, utilizing lean manufacturing principles.
• Manage production schedules, resource allocation, and inventory levels to meet demand forecasts effectively.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations within the manufacturing plant.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of production supervisors and staff, fostering a culture of performance and accountability.
• Implement and maintain robust quality control systems to ensure products meet or exceed company and customer standards.
• Collaborate with supply chain, procurement, and logistics departments to ensure a seamless flow of materials and finished goods.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying and implementing process enhancements to optimize operations.
• Manage the operational budget, monitoring expenditures and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in operations management, with a significant portion in the FMCG manufacturing sector.
• Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale manufacturing operations and driving significant improvements in efficiency, quality, and cost.
• Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and motivational skills.
• In-depth understanding of health, safety, and quality regulations in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and manufacturing execution systems (MES).
• Ability to manage complex projects and drive change initiatives.
