Senior Pharmaceutical Formulation Scientist

Our client, a leading pharmaceutical company at the forefront of medical innovation, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Pharmaceutical Formulation Scientist to join their dedicated team in Centurion. This role requires a hands-on professional with extensive experience in developing and optimizing pharmaceutical dosage forms. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating drug substances into stable, effective, and safe medicinal products.

This is a critical on-site position, contributing directly to the development of novel therapeutics. You will work within state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, collaborating with a team of experts to bring new medicines to patients. The role is vital for advancing our client's product pipeline and ensuring the highest quality standards in drug product development.

• Design, develop, and optimize various pharmaceutical dosage forms (e.g., oral solid dosage, sterile injectables, topical formulations).
• Conduct pre-formulation studies, including solubility, stability, and compatibility assessments.
• Perform formulation development experiments and characterization of drug products.
• Scale-up formulation processes from laboratory bench to pilot and commercial scale.
• Prepare technical reports, documentation for regulatory submissions, and research proposals.
• Troubleshoot formulation and manufacturing process issues.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in pharmaceutical formulation technologies and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with analytical, process development, and regulatory affairs teams.
• Mentor junior scientists and provide technical guidance.

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
• Demonstrated expertise in developing various dosage forms, with a strong understanding of drug delivery principles.
• Proficiency in formulation equipment and analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, dissolution testing, particle size analysis).
• Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and relevant regulatory guidelines (e.g., FDA, SAHPRA).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent documentation and report-writing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
