About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking pharmaceutical company, is seeking a highly innovative and skilled Senior Pharmaceutical Research Scientist to join their drug discovery team based in Centurion . You will play a crucial role in identifying, validating, and advancing novel therapeutic targets and drug candidates. This position requires a deep understanding of medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, and early-stage drug development processes. You will contribute to cutting-edge research, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of scientists to bring life-changing therapies to patients.

• Design and execute experimental strategies for the identification and validation of new drug targets in therapeutic areas of interest.
• Conduct extensive literature reviews and stay abreast of the latest scientific advancements in drug discovery.
• Utilize advanced techniques in molecular biology, biochemistry, and pharmacology to characterize lead compounds.
• Plan and oversee in vivo and in vitro studies to assess drug efficacy and safety profiles.
• Analyze complex experimental data, interpret results, and present findings to project teams and senior management.
• Contribute to the preparation of research proposals, patents, and scientific publications.

• Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 5-7 years of post-doctoral research experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Proven track record of success in drug discovery , with experience in multiple therapeutic areas.
• Expertise in assay development, high-throughput screening, and hit-to-lead optimization.
• Strong understanding of target validation methodologies and preclinical development.
• Excellent data analysis skills and proficiency with relevant scientific software.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
