About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Research Scientist with a specialization in Genomics to join their dynamic research team in Centurion . This hybrid role offers the flexibility to work both remotely and in the office, blending independent research with collaborative team efforts. You will be at the forefront of analyzing complex genomic data to unravel biological pathways and identify genetic variations associated with various conditions.
This position is perfect for a scientist passionate about advancing genomic research, contributing to impactful discoveries, and working within a supportive team that encourages innovation and continuous learning, bridging the gap between computational analysis and biological understanding.
- Perform in-depth analysis of next-generation sequencing data, including whole-genome, exome, and RNA-seq.
- Identify and interpret genetic variants, and associate them with specific phenotypes or diseases.
- Develop and optimize bioinformatics pipelines for genomic data processing and analysis.
- Collaborate with bench scientists to design experiments and validate computational findings.
- Contribute to the writing of research papers, grant proposals, and internal reports.
- Maintain and manage genomic databases and associated metadata.
- Ph.D. in Genetics, Genomics, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in genomic data analysis.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and familiarity with relevant bioinformatics tools and databases.
- Strong understanding of statistical methods and their application to genomic data.
- Experience with cloud-based genomic analysis platforms is a plus.
