About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Materials Scientist to join their innovative research and development division located in Centurion . This pivotal role involves the discovery, development, and characterization of advanced materials essential for next-generation technologies. You will be responsible for leading complex research projects, collaborating with engineers and product developers to translate material innovations into tangible products. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking scientist with a strong track record in materials science, eager to contribute to groundbreaking advancements in a technologically driven environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the research and development of novel materials, focusing on areas such as polymers, composites, or nanomaterials.
- Perform comprehensive characterization of material properties using techniques like SEM, TEM, XRD, and spectroscopy.
- Develop and optimize material synthesis and processing methods to achieve desired performance characteristics.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to integrate new materials into product designs and manufacturing processes.
- Conduct rigorous testing and analysis to validate material performance, durability, and reliability.
- Author technical reports, research papers, and patent applications, and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant industrial or academic research experience in materials science .
- Proven expertise in material synthesis, characterization, and structure-property relationships.
- Hands-on experience with advanced analytical and testing equipment.
- Strong understanding of material selection and application engineering principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead research initiatives.
