Our client is recruiting a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join their advanced genomics research group based in Centurion . This position is focused on exploring the genetic underpinnings of complex diseases, utilizing cutting-edge sequencing technologies and computational analysis. You will play a crucial role in hypothesis generation, experimental design, data interpretation, and manuscript preparation, contributing significantly to ongoing research projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career scientist to deepen their expertise in genomics and bioinformatics within a state-of-the-art facility located in the heart of Gauteng , working within a highly collaborative and academically rigorous setting.
Key Responsibilities- Design and conduct experiments utilizing Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies, including whole-genome and exome sequencing.
- Perform comprehensive bioinformatic analysis of large genomic datasets, including variant calling, annotation, and association studies.
- Develop and implement novel computational pipelines for analyzing complex genomic data.
- Collaborate with clinicians and other researchers to integrate genomic findings with clinical data.
- Prepare and present research findings at national and international conferences.
- Contribute to manuscript preparation for publication in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
- Ph.D. in Genetics, Genomics, Bioinformatics, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience with Next-Generation Sequencing library preparation and experimental workflows.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R for data analysis and pipeline development.
- Strong understanding of human genetics and molecular biology principles.
- Experience with public genomic databases (e.g., dbSNP, Ensembl, UCSC Genome Browser).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
