Senior Biochemist

Our client, a prominent player in the pharmaceutical research sector, is looking for a dedicated and experienced Senior Biochemist to join their state-of-the-art laboratories in Centurion, Gauteng
. This critical role involves the in-depth study of biochemical processes and the development of novel drug candidates. The Senior Biochemist will be responsible for designing and executing complex experiments, analyzing results, and contributing to the overall research strategy. You will be part of a highly collaborative team focused on translating scientific knowledge into tangible health solutions. This position requires a hands-on approach and a deep understanding of biochemical principles.

• Design, perform, and optimize biochemical assays to evaluate drug targets and compounds.
• Characterize the activity, kinetics, and mechanism of action of enzymes and other biomolecules.
• Utilize various biochemical and biophysical techniques, including spectroscopy, chromatography, and electrophoresis.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data, generating detailed reports and presentations.
• Collaborate with medicinal chemists, biologists, and pharmacologists to advance drug discovery projects.
• Troubleshoot experimental procedures and ensure the reliability and reproducibility of results.
• Contribute to the development of new research methodologies and technologies.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory guidelines.

• PhD in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related life science discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in drug discovery or biochemical research.
• Extensive experience with protein purification, enzyme kinetics, and biochemical assay development.
• Proficiency in various biochemical and biophysical techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly.
• Experience with statistical analysis software is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a laboratory setting in Centurion, Gauteng
