Senior Backend Engineer; Node.js

Our client, a rapidly expanding SaaS company, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer specializing in Node.js to join their innovative team in Centurion, Gauteng . This role is integral to the development of our client's core platform, requiring a deep understanding of scalable microservices architecture and robust API design. You will be responsible for building and maintaining high-performance backend systems, collaborating closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and Dev Ops specialists.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend services using Node.js.
• Build and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, adhering to best practices.
• Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Work with databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) to design schemas and optimize queries.
• Implement security and data protection measures.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technology roadmap planning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve backend issues, ensuring system stability and performance.

• Proven experience as a Backend Engineer, with a strong focus on Node.js development.
• Extensive experience in building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Proficiency with JavaScript/Type Script and Node.js ecosystem.
