About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly vigilant and decisive Air Traffic Controller to manage air traffic operations in the busy airspace around Centurion. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety, orderliness, and efficiency of aircraft movement within the designated control zone. You will work collaboratively with pilots and other aviation professionals, utilizing advanced radar and communication systems. This demanding position requires exceptional concentration, rapid decision-making capabilities, and a deep understanding of aviation procedures and regulations, contributing to the safe operation of one of the region's key aviation hubs.
Key Responsibilities- Direct and control air traffic in a designated airspace to prevent collisions and maintain an orderly flow of aircraft.
- Communicate with pilots using standard phraseology and advanced radar displays to provide instructions and information.
- Monitor weather conditions and alert flight crews to potential hazards.
- Coordinate with adjacent air traffic control units and relevant agencies to ensure seamless traffic management.
- Respond effectively to emergencies and unusual situations, implementing established safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of all air traffic control activities.
- Possession of a valid Air Traffic Controller license and relevant certifications.
- Extensive experience in controlling various types of air traffic (e.g., VFR, IFR).
- Demonstrated ability to maintain high levels of concentration and make critical decisions under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English.
- Familiarity with modern air traffic management systems and technologies.
