The Artificial Perception & Threat Awareness (APTA) division at SARA is making the future of Aerospace and Autonomy happen now, with a charter to create new and emerging sensor perception technologies for Commercial & Military markets. Our innovative technologies include RF, optical and acoustic sensors enabled with innovative embedded algorithms, machine learning and robust networking.
Responsible for the development of a cutting‑edge high‑speed data acquisition system in Cypress, CA. This role will maintain technical vision, lead a team of talented engineers, and guide the project to a minimally viable product (MVP) and then through low‑rate production.
Core Responsibilities- Establish requirements and oversee organized development of a high‑speed data acquisition system, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with project goals
- Lead the architecting and design of complex systems involving high‑speed digitizers, low‑noise RF circuits, FPGAs, and embedded processors
- Develop solutions for compact packaging and high‑level electromagnetic shielding to ensure performance in challenging environments
- Mentor and guide junior engineers
- Oversee system‑level testing, validation, and optimization to meet performance and reliability requirements
- Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to push the boundaries of data acquisition systems
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 8-10 years of experience in high‑speed electronics, RF design, FPGA development, or embedded systems
- Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams and mentor junior engineers
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and a passion for tackling technical challenges
- US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance
- May require moderate physical effort, involving standing, sitting and use of hands while performing duties, carrying or lifting up to 50 pounds
- Working environment is indoor, moderately loud, reasonably clean, well‑lit and well‑ventilated; moderate physical hazards may exist
- Bachelor's Degree in related field, plus 10-12 years of experience in high‑speed electronics, RF design, FPGA development, or embedded systems
- Or Master's Degree, plus 8-10 years of experience
- Or PhD, plus 5-7 years of experience
- Proven expertise designing high‑speed digitizers, low‑noise RF circuits, and FPGA‑based systems
- Experience with embedded programming (C/C++, RTOS) and FPGA design tools (Vivado/Verilog/VHDL)
- Experience with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and designing for high‑threat electromagnetic environments
- Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget
- Active DoD Secret or higher Clearance

SARA offers a competitive salary in the range of $120,000 to $150,000 (annualized USD). Positions are on‑site, unless indicated otherwise.
