Quality FAI Inspector

SUMMARY Performs first Article Inspections per AS9102 and Carlisle's own work instructions and processes. Will assist the FAI II and FAI III team with AS9102 documentation set-up, retrieving certifications from the system and working with purchasing to resolve any missing or incorrect certifications. May be required to perform simple mechanical inspections and record on the appropriate AS9102 form. This position is reported directly to the Quality Control Supervisor.

• High School Diploma or GED
• Aptitude to read a wide variety of blueprints
• Some understanding of AS9100 and ISO
  9001 is preferred
• Some working knowledge of inspection techniques and instruments
• Excellent reading, writing and mathematical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure in meeting time schedules
• Ability to work overtime, as needed
• Aptitude in creating AS9102 first article reports
• Ability to work effectively with all employees and supervisors
• Some computer skills, experience and knowledge with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Other duties as required in support of the department and the company

• High school diploma or equivalent, e.g., GED, vocational school diploma
• 1+ years of experience as a quality control inspector or in a relevant role is preferred
• Knowledge of blueprint reading and dimensioning tolerancing per ASME Y14.5M
• Background in aerospace, defense, or cable assembly industries favored

• Active IPC-WHMA-A-620 certification preferred

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Conversational in any other language is a plus

• Basic arithmetic: add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages
• Statistics:
  Interpret and analyze numerical data using statistical methods
• Basic geometry: ability to understand and work with shapes, angles, lines, and planes

• Intermediate in MS Office Suite and Share Point
• Knowledge of ERP systems, SAP preferred
• Good knowledge of blueprint reading, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), and ASME Y14.5M
• General understanding of Quality Assurance Systems and Applications, such as ISO 9001 or AS9100
• Has the technical knowledge to do the job at a high level of accomplishment
• Produces mostly error‑free work the first time with little waste or redone work
• Hand agility, coordination, and accuracy
• Good problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
• Good attention to detail
• Ability to communicate and interface well with the Quality and other departments

Employee must sit for lengthy periods while frequently using hands to handle objects and communicate verbally. May need to stand, walk, reach, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Requires specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Manufacturing plant with noise, temperature, safety, and demand variations. Use of machinery and exposure to hazards such as chemicals, heat, dust, or noise, with a culture of teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement.
