Customs Entry Writer

Salary - $50k to $58k - depending on experience

Must have one or more years of current experience in Customs Entries within the Freight Forwarding industry.

Must have a valid Visa to work in the USA.

The successful candidate

Will possess key skills and experience including knowledge of international import transportation, import brokerage procedures, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (“Customs”), and Participating Government Agency (“PGA”) requirements, including the clearance process, classification, and valuation.

Position requirements

Requires excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and produce accurate workflow in a fast-paced, high-pressure freight forwarding environment. Must contribute positively to the team’s success.

Responsibilities
  • Manage accounts from start to finish, including preparing all documentation necessary to clear merchandise through Customs and PGA.
  • Provide excellent, thorough, and prompt customer service.
  • Perform tasks assigned by the Manager, Supervisor, or Team Lead.
  • Prepare Arrival Notices and set up files.
  • Input data obtained from Agents and freight forwarders.
  • File Customs entries for clearance.
  • Coordinate with Customs and other Government agencies to obtain releases.
  • Handle billing processes, including ISF filing.
  • Manage documentation such as Bills of Lading, Certificates of Origin, and commercial packing lists.
  • Sign documents on behalf of clients using power of attorney.
  • Additional tasks
    • Work with CBP and quarantine issues.
    • Deal with fees and duty taxes.
    • Ensure compliance with government guidelines for cargo clearance.
