Marketing Automation Architect

About the Role

The role is a hands‑on marketing automation technology leadership position responsible for shaping the future of CRM, loyalty, lifecycle marketing, campaign automation, and customer engagement across Europe. Based in Europe, you will lead the evolution of Salesforce Marketing Cloud capabilities while supporting the existing Exact Target environment and driving the adoption of next‑generation technologies, including Marketing Cloud Next/Advanced, AI‑enabled marketing, customer journey orchestration, personalization, and customer data activation.

Working closely with the global marketing automation team in the US, you will bridge day‑to‑day platform operations with long‑term architecture, ensuring solutions are scalable, localized for multiple European markets, aligned with the global digital platform strategy, and capable of supporting future business growth.

• Define and execute the European marketing automation technology roadmap in partnership with global digital platform and regional CRM teams.
• Design, build, and optimize marketing automation solutions using Salesforce Marketing Cloud, customer journeys, segmentation, personalization, SQL, APIs, and integrations.
• Support and enhance the existing Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement (Exact Target) platform while identifying opportunities to reduce technical debt and improve operational efficiency.
• Evaluate, pilot, and implement Marketing Cloud Next/Advanced, AI‑enabled marketing capabilities, and customer data activation initiatives.
• Develop scalable localization frameworks for multi‑country campaigns, including language, content, consent, currency, and reporting standards.
• Establish governance, technical standards, reusable templates, and best practices to ensure quality, compliance, and global scalability.
• Drive AI‑assisted improvements across campaign creation, quality assurance, delivery speed, and operational efficiency while balancing automation with appropriate human oversight.

• 7+ years of experience in marketing automation, CRM, or digital marketing architecture with strong expertise in Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement (Exact Target).
• Hands‑on technical experience with customer journeys, segmentation, personalization, SQL, APIs, data models, integrations, automation, and platform troubleshooting.
• Salesforce certifications in Marketing Cloud, Loyalty, Data Cloud (Data 360), or other relevant Salesforce technologies.
• Experience supporting multi‑country marketing programs with localization requirements and strong knowledge of GDPR, consent management, and European privacy regulations.
• Familiarity with Marketing Cloud Next/Advanced, AI‑enabled marketing, customer data platforms, and modern marketing technology ecosystems.
• Strong understanding of omnichannel customer engagement across email, SMS, push notifications, and campaign performance measurement.
• Proven ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions while balancing regional needs with global platform standards.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, problem‑solving, and solution architecture skills, with a pragmatic, hands‑on approach and experience in retail, ecommerce, or consumer brands.
