Job DescriptionThe Sushi Chef I position is an entry point into our organization. As a developmental role, you will master knife skills, sushi rolling fundamentals, and food safety.
Responsibilities include:
- People Skills
- Core Culinary Skills
- Product Knowledge
- Quality and Food Safety
- Profit Knowledge & Waste Control
- Cut, slice, and fillet various types of fish and vegetables
- Inspect the quality of fruits, vegetables, and fish and notify the supervisor if sub‑standard
- Prepare sushi dishes according to established guidelines on quality, portion size, presentation, and food safety
- Maintain a clean work environment to prevent food contamination
- Report any problems with kitchen equipment to the manager on duty
- Sterilize all utensils, instruments, and equipment used in sushi preparation before each use
- Greet and communicate with customers to ensure they feel valued
- Minimum 6 months in the food service industry; sushi rolling experience preferred
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Strong communication skills with customers and teammates
- Valid food handler’s license and knowledge of food safety regulations
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work under pressure with sound judgment

- Salary: $15.00–$17.50 Hourly
