Job Description

The Sushi Chef I position is an entry point into our organization. As a developmental role, you will master knife skills, sushi rolling fundamentals, and food safety.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Cut, slice, and fillet various types of fish and vegetables
  • Inspect the quality of fruits, vegetables, and fish and notify the supervisor if sub‑standard
  • Prepare sushi dishes according to established guidelines on quality, portion size, presentation, and food safety
  • Maintain a clean work environment to prevent food contamination
  • Report any problems with kitchen equipment to the manager on duty
  • Sterilize all utensils, instruments, and equipment used in sushi preparation before each use
  • Greet and communicate with customers to ensure they feel valued
Qualifications
  • Minimum 6 months in the food service industry; sushi rolling experience preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Strong communication skills with customers and teammates
  • Valid food handler’s license and knowledge of food safety regulations
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work under pressure with sound judgment
  • Commitment to the company mission and core values
