Conversion & Special Projects Manager (Loans)
Join First Mid as a Conversion & Special Projects Manager (Loans) and help integrate acquired bank systems.
Responsibilities- Develop conversion plan and conversion playbook for Loan Operations working with vendor timelines and resources.
- Perform comprehensive gap analyses of systems, job processes, product design, and customer profile and produce business insights and recommendations.
- Work with department heads to determine the need for new products, service charge routines, etc. before system mapping.
- Create data maps and transaction workflow documents that detail how every field of information will be converted. Share data maps with vendors to ensure successful conversion.
- Validate results of conversion program and other programming changes. Develop, monitor, and lead the validation team.
- Utilize Business Analytics and other systems to streamline the mapping and validation process.
- Develop expertise in core and ancillary systems and processes (First Mid Bank’s and the acquired bank’s) and identify interdependencies and impacts of changes to the systems.
- Maintain effective communication with operational and project teams and act as the “voice” of the business during the project.
- Identify fields/data that must be corrected post‑conversion and develop a plan to resolve issues; use systems for process automation.
- Direct the post‑conversion clean‑up process and engage operational resources as needed.
- Review system specifications for cleanup pre‑ and post‑conversion and determine needed changes for the combined institution.
- Act as primary conversion team lead for Business Line, including subcommittee with vendors.
- Serve as primary resource during conversion, answer questions, troubleshoot problems, support implementation of new procedures, communicate last‑minute training if necessary, and provide support during conversion week.
- Identify and document lessons learned and other opportunities for process improvements.
- When bank conversions are not in play, lead other business‑unit projects.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Business Administration required.
- Experience: 7+ years of specialized training or experience in all areas of bank operations, with a focus on Loans.
- Skills:
- Self‑starter, goal‑oriented, able to function remotely with little direction.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/tasks.
- Thorough knowledge of banking operations, regulations, processes, and computer applications.
- High level of confidentiality and accuracy with detailed information.
- Excellent organizational skills for accurate and timely task completion.
- Proficient in spreadsheet, word processing, Business Analytics, and Foxtrot systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with staff and senior officers professionally.
- Occasional flexibility to work early, late, or longer than the normal workday.
- Adequate knowledge of internal policies, procedures, and state and federal laws governing departmental functions.
