Provides evidence‑based vision care to ensure patients’ health and wellbeing. Recommends and prescribes medications and other treatment options, such as red eye, LASIK surgery, cataract surgery, following evidence‑based care guidelines. Delivers routine vision care, educates patients and store associates on eye health, contact lens care, disease‑state management, and safety factors. Recommends appropriate patient follow‑up and consults with other health professionals to prepare and coordinate patient care plans in accordance with the optometry scope of practice per state board.
Provides patients with appropriate referrals as needed to ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals and follows up with patients and other health professionals regarding diagnostics tests or other patient information.
Evaluates patients’ health condition across the vision center scope of service. Performs comprehensive eye examinations, including visual acuity, visual function, keratometry, refraction, and other tests. Prescribes fitting and adjusting eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids. Orders, interprets, and assesses diagnostic tests such as glaucoma testing, macular degeneration, and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). Provides additional vision treatment for foreign body removal and other necessary procedures.
Develops and implements treatment plans based on patients’ clinical presentation using evidence‑based care guidelines.
Represents the company in patient engagement by delivering exceptional customer service through all patient interactions. Maintains and updates patient information in vision center systems (e.g., BOSS) in a timely, accurate, and confidential manner. Assists vision center staff, such as opticians, on best practices and procedures, ensuring adherence to state, local, and federal healthcare regulations and Walmart vision center guidelines. Performs administrative and retail tasks as necessary, including financial transactions, patient registration, retail transactions, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications- Doctoral degree in Optometry (OD) from an accredited optometry school.
- Licensed optometrist in good standing in state of practice.
- Healthcare experience.
