Classroom & Lab Assistant Pool-Career & Technical Education (CTE)

Hourly Rate: $15.00 -$20.18 depending upon qualifications.

This position is an on-campus, part-time, up-to 19-hour appointment based in Champaign, Illinois.

The Classroom Assistant (CA) & Lab Assistant positions provide support to the course instructor to ensure effective delivery of the required materials and to foster a positive learning environment. Roles may vary depending on the course. The position will work on a schedule established by their supervisor. The CA & Lab Assistant must be able to work independently from written or verbal instructions and work well with instructors.

Career & Technical Education departments include Agricultural Sciences, Applied Sciences and Technologies, and Business, Computer Sciences and Technologies

Essential Job Functions

• Assist with classroom instruction.
• Preparing laboratory materials.
• Obtaining and distributing course materials.
• Assist with completing forms in accordance with department procedures; submit reports and other materials as required.
• Operate office equipment, such as copiers, PCs, and/or phone systems.
• Work independently and efficiently.
• May assist with special projects and events.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone. Excellent spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills.
• Ability to work inclusively in a diverse setting.
• Maintain confidentiality, be punctual, communicate changes in work schedule in advance.
• Appropriate attire as discussed for the work environment.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Prospective new hires will successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment criminal background check with fingerprinting. The background check review includes, but is not limited to, exclusionary offenses per the Illinois School Code and Title IV of the Higher Education Act.
