Special Education Teacher – Full Time is available at The Pavilion Behavioral Health System
.
This position is part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, providing direct education services to students in a behavioral health setting. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and updating IEPs for all students on the teacher’s caseload, creating daily written plans, and using science‑based interventions to support student progress.
Responsibilities- Instructional Planning
Develop, implement, maintain, and update IEPs for all students on the caseload.
Maintain daily written plans aligned with curriculum, core/state standards, and IEP goals.
Monitor student progress and adjust plans, methods, and assessments as needed. - Instructional Methods
Teach according to the adopted curriculum, using differentiated instruction and varied resources.
Explain objectives and guide practice before independent work.
Promote students’ critical thinking and provide motivating feedback.
Use hands‑on activities to maintain high engagement. - Subject Matter Knowledge
Demonstrate expert knowledge of the subject area and respond accurately to students’ questions.
Use correct English, spelling, punctuation, and grammar in both oral and written communication. - Classroom Management
Maintain discipline per behavior management plans, organizing the classroom to minimize disruptions.
Set clear behavior limits, monitor compliance, and treat all students fairly.
Take precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities; encourage self‑discipline.
Maintain a calm, controlled atmosphere during crises. - Staff & Professional Responsibilities
Maintain accurate, timely records as required by law and educational guidelines.
Participate in staff meetings, collaborate with other teachers, and report progress to guardians via quarterly reports and conferences.
Utilize crisis intervention and verbal de‑escalation skills to ensure a safe environment. - Non‑Essential Functions
Project a positive image of The Pavilion through courteous, professional interactions.
Ensure compliance with confidentiality regulations, OSHA, risk management, infection control, CPR, and related requirements.
Respond to a “Support Code” appropriately as per TCI inservice.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications- Special Education Teacher Certification – State of Illinois, Type 10 (Limited or Unlimited)
- Bachelor’s degree in Education preferred
- Teaching experience in a special education setting preferred
