Position SummaryOur Illinois Migrant Educational Services program delivers non-credit instruction and supplemental supports to parents and children of migratory farm workers in Illinois. Our NIU STEAM project delivers STEAM-forward curriculum and instruction. Duties of this Educator will include providing instruction to eligible students between the ages of 2 and 22 in math, reading, life skills and social emotional learning. Additional assignments will be within NIU STEAM to ensure that their programming is culturally relevant.
Preferred that the educator is Bilingual in Spanish, both speaking and writing.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum educational requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in social service or educational field required - Preferred: experience/endorsement in English as a Second Language
- Preferred: bilingual in reading and speaking Spanish
- Minimum experience requirements:
Two years’ experience as an educator in a private or public setting - Experience with Latinx programming
- Preferred residence in Champaign county (or surrounding east-central IL counties)
- Flexible schedule with will include weeknights and weekends
- Dependable transportation (travel expenses will be reimbursed)
- Ability to develop and implement informal educational curriculum (outside of traditional educational systems) targeting in school, secondary and out-of-school youth
- Demonstrated proficiency in organizational and presentation skills
- Ability to work successfully as a team member and a team leader
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to manage a number diverse tasks simultaneously
- Active and successful network of partners and contacts in K-12 education and/or informal educational fields
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Office and presentation technologies
- Commitment to advancement of engagement in higher education

Salary: $55,000 – $65,000 commensurate with credentials; NIU offers a robust benefits package.
