Mechatronics Engineer

Full-time Hybrid Champaign, IL Flexible within Central time +/- 2h

Blend mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering to deliver responsive robotic systems.

Our mechatronics engineers prototype end-to-end systems that must operate reliably around humans. You'll tune actuators, sensors, and controls loops to deliver precise, safe performance.

• Develop mechatronic subsystems including actuation, sensing, and embedded control.
• Model dynamic behavior to inform design decisions across mechanical and electrical domains.
• Implement calibration procedures and diagnostics that field teams can trust.
• Support deployments by analyzing logs, triaging issues, and iterating on hardware/software interplay.

• 4+ years building mechatronic or robotic systems with closed-loop control.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink or Python for modeling and system identification.
• Hands-on experience integrating sensors (encoders, IMUs, force) and actuators (hydraulic, electric).
• Ability to collaborate closely with software to tune and validate control algorithms.
• Experience with safety-rated motion or collaborative robotics.
• Background in estimation, Kalman filtering, or sensor fusion.
• Comfort traveling to customer sites for commissioning.
