Utilizing mechanical & plumbing design expertise, this position will be responsible for the design, development, review, and management of mechanically oriented projects for campus buildings. Produce and deliver engineering opinions, designs, technical decisions, recommendations, and documentation to F&S departments, campus, and other University units in conformance with applicable codes and University Facilities Standards. Provide the analysis and development of mechanical project scopes for campus buildings.
Designs and technical opinions are to provide safe, reliable, comfortable, productive, sustainable, and cost‑effective facilities to support the Mission of the University. Provide support to other units. Support the Mission, Vision, Values, and Guiding Principles of Facilities and Services.
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois.
- In-depth (five (5) years minimum) progressively responsible administrative experience in engineering design of HVAC.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and/or building automation and/or control systems.
- Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
- Seven (7) or more years of extensive design experience with large HVAC Central Systems.
- Four (4) or more years of design experience with plumbing, fire suppression systems, and building automation systems with increasing responsibility of project development and management.
- CEM, CEFP, LEED, or additional certification in engineering, energy or facility management.
- Experience using mechanical and plumbing equipment selection software.
- Experience in Siemens and Schneider Electric I/A Building Automation Control Systems.

Occasional field visits for projects in design or construction. Use personal protective equipment, common sense, and safety training when on construction sites.

Produce and deliver engineering opinions, design reviews, technical decisions, recommendations, and documentation to F&S departments, campus, and other University units under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer. Confirm conformance with applicable codes and University Facilities Standards to provide safe, reliable, comfortable, productive, sustainable, and cost-effective facilities which support the Mission of the University.

- Three (3) years experience in engineering design of HVAC, fire protection, or plumbing building systems.
