Sr. Mechanical Engineer – HVAC/Building Systems
LocationChampaign, IL; also available at Peoria, Lisle, Tinley Park, or Normal, IL offices.

Responsibilities- Prepare accurate HVAC, plumbing, controls, and specialty piping system construction drawings, including specifications.
- Perform construction administration, including submittal reviews and project revisions during construction.
- Prepare preliminary schematics through final designs for projects, including calculations, equipment selection, and layouts.
- Actively engage in and assume responsibility for code research and application.
- Interface with other disciplines, clients, and contractors, leading projects to successful completion.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and coordination of the production staff.
- Assist in maintaining project design budgets and schedules while pursuing quality results.
- Perform quality control reviews of HVAC and plumbing design work done by others.
- Assist in business development activities, including writing fee proposals and conducting project scoping walks with potential clients.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
- 10+ years of professional experience in HVAC and plumbing design for buildings.
- Professional Engineering License (PE) required.
- Prior management or mentoring of staff required.
- Design experience with medium/large commercial and institutional facilities.
- Strong familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Carrier HAP, Trane Trace, or similar.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to lead projects from start to finish and contribute to several projects simultaneously.
$100,000 – $130,000 (determined by education, experience, and other factors).
