Meyer Capel, one of the most diversified firms in Champaign and downstate Illinois, is seeking summer associates from the Class of 2027 and 2028 for work at its Champaign office (306 W. Church St., Champaign, IL 61820) or Bloomington office (201 E Grove St #100, Bloomington, IL 61701) during summer 2026. Standard hours of work are 7.5 hours a day, Monday through Friday, inclusive.
There may be a possibility of offering continued employment after the initial engagement concludes.
Seasonal associates assist the firm's attorneys in handling research projects, drafting pleadings, contracts, and various other documents. Seasonal associates will be exposed to a wide range of practice areas (e.g., litigation, transactional, estate/trust, etc.). As time permits, seasonal associates are also encouraged to sit in on client meetings, depositions, court hearings, real estate closings, estate plan signings, etc., in an effort to gain experience related to the practice of law and the business of private legal practice.
This position is a terrific opportunity for students interested in private practice at a mid-sized firm that values its clients, staff, and culture.
Compensation: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
($19.00 p/hr for Class of 2028; $20.00 p/hr for Class of 2027)
