General Manager — Chicago, IL

Compensation: $116,000–$145,000 plus comprehensive benefits

JLR Associates is seeking a General Manager to lead a large, mission-driven community recreation center in Chicago. This leader will oversee operations, programs, facilities, and financial performance while building a safe, welcoming experience for members and guests.

What you’ll be expected to accomplish
  • Strengthen financial performance. Develop and manage the annual operating budget, keep programs financially sound, and identify opportunities to improve revenue and use of the facility.

  • Lead a strong management team. Set clear priorities for program, operations, facilities, and business leaders. Build effective staffing plans and hold teams accountable for service and results.

  • Deliver a consistent guest experience. Establish service standards, evaluate performance, and address issues that affect members, families, and community partners.

  • Keep the facility safe and ready to serve. Oversee maintenance, risk management, child safety practices, equipment needs, and capital improvement planning.

  • Connect programs to community needs. Work across departments to maintain high-quality offerings and make full use of the center’s space and resources.

What you’ll bring
  • At least 10 years of leadership experience in a comprehensive recreation, sports, athletic, educational, or similar facility, including experience as a General Manager or senior operations leader.

  • Experience developing and administering a facility budget of at least $3 million and managing an indoor facility of at least 50,000 square feet
    .

  • Experience leading teams across multiple functions and contributing to a sales-focused organization.

  • The ability to balance financial discipline, operational detail, safety, and a service-centered mission.

  • A bachelor’s degree in recreation management or a related field. Nonprofit management experience and a master’s degree are pluses.
