Sales Representative, Business Development
Overview
Manage, call on, and sell industrial equipment to customers in the assigned territory.
CompensationBase salary range $55,000 to $70,000, plus monthly commission, annual bonus potential and monthly automobile allowance. Target first‑year earnings up to $100K.
ResponsibilitiesProspect, source, and maintain quality customers in the assigned area. Achieve or exceed assigned sales goals by developing action plans and schedules to identify specific sales prospects, targets, and/or markets and to project number of contacts to be made. Actively engage in planned prospecting activities geared at increasing the customer base, follow up on new leads and referrals, establish rapport through regular contact with existing and new customers (particularly key accounts), respond promptly to customer inquiries, introduce new products and upgrades, study customer needs, and coordinate customer service.
- Prepare and present quotes, proposals, pricing, and credit terms; oversee customer services through quality checks and follow‑up.
- Maintain a professional image at all times through personal actions and initiatives; enhance division and company reputation and brand image by consistently working to implement the company’s core values of commitment, interaction, and innovation.
- Obtain, develop, prepare, deliver, and present sales materials, exhibits, and promotional programs when attending exhibits, conferences, meetings, and other local, regional, and national promotional opportunities.
Continuously update job knowledge (products and sales/marketing strategies and skills) by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, networking, and participating in professional organizations.
Prepare reports as assigned relative to activity, lost orders, closings, follow‑up, and performance against budget; provide special developments, information, or feedback gathered through field activity, including recommendations for product, service, pricing changes and evaluation of competitive developments.
QualificationsExperience:
5+ years of direct sales experience or customer service experience; industrial equipment sales preferred.
Education:
Four‑year degree in business, marketing, or equivalent work experience.
Skills:
Self‑directed; excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; proven business analysis skills; proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel); valid driver’s license; up to 30‑50% local travel and up to 25‑40% overnight travel within the Champaign, IL, Layfette, IN, and Terre Haute, IN area.

Hybrid position. Candidate will travel within a 2‑hour radius from Terre Haute, IN to include Champaign, IL and Layfette, IN, with ability to work within our Terre Haute corporate office.
