Full‑Time 184 days / 6.5 hrs/day.
Duties- Managing behavior (redirecting, calming or removing a disruptive student from the classroom)
- Monitoring and recording student progress in instructional areas (academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, social skills, etc.)
- Managing physical needs (toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, transporting students in wheelchairs, etc.)
High School Diploma or equivalent. Personal Care Assistant certification required to be completed within 30 days of start date. Candidates must have completed 60 semester / 90 quarter credits or obtained an associate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution or have passed the Para Educator exam or Para Pro exam (documentation will be required).
Good communication, interpersonal and record‑keeping skills. Ability/desire to work with technology and computers. Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff. Ability to supervise students. Ability to take direction. Ability to maintain regular attendance, including completing an assigned day.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds and perform the position responsibilities, including toileting, feeding, self‑care procedures, implementing behavioral management programs, maintaining student data, and working with students who may display aggressive or inappropriate behavior. Must be physically working in the building.
Rate of Pay- $20.00 / hr to $25.30 / hr – DOQ with K‑12 experience
- $21.15 / hr to $26.45 / hr – with AA/AAS degree or 60 semester/90 quarter credits from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K‑12 experience
- $22.00 / hr to $27.30 / hr – with BA degree from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K‑12 experience
Special Ed Paras serving Center‑based students and classrooms 50% or more of their time receive an additional $0.50 per hour.
Special Ed Paras at Two Rivers Transition Program or River Trail Learning Center receive an additional $1.00 per hour.
