Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our innovative team in the NE Twin Cities. This full-time role centers around the design and engineering of various electrical products, such as lighting cabinets, panel boards, switchboards, switch gear, and control panels. You will work collaboratively to integrate both new and existing hardware and software, ensuring seamless operational functionality. A deep knowledge of fabrication methods, machinery, and programming software is crucial to enhance product and process efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze project specifications to assist in preparing detailed quotations, including pricing and delivery timelines.
- Ensure compliance with codes and customer expectations throughout construction, installation, and operational phases.
- Design equipment using 3D modeling software, adhering to current codes and standards.
- Maintain expertise in machinery such as lasers, turrets, and press brakes for product improvement.
- Conduct field measurements and equipment maintenance, requiring occasional travel (approx. 5% travel).
- Build strong relationships with shop employees to gather feedback for product enhancements.
- Represent the company positively in all customer, vendor, and supplier interactions.
- Stay updated on product developments and changes in industry codes.
- Advise management on manufacturing processes to promote lean manufacturing practices.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 3 years of experience, or expertise in Electrical System Design with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Proficient in CAD software such as Solid Works and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of 3-phase power systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with low and medium voltage electrical equipment is a plus.
- Experience in sheet metal manufacturing and electrical equipment design is advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving, project management, and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and make sound engineering decisions autonomously.
- Ability to sit and occasionally bend or stand for extended periods.
- Primarily an office-based role with some travel requirements (approx. 5% travel).
- During the initial 3-6 months, work will include a shop setting requiring physical activity such as sitting, kneeling, reaching, and lifting objects up to 50 pounds.
