Position Summary:

The Human Resources Specialist plays a key role in supporting both the HR and payroll functions at Granite Bank. This position combines administrative, payroll, and HR operational responsibilities to ensure accurate employee data, compliant payroll processing, and a positive employee experience.

This person will be the back up bi‑weekly payroll through Loan Vision, ensure accurate commission tracking for loan officers and branch managers, and monitor hourly and salaried employee timecards through Insperity.

Key Responsibilities:

Human Resources Administration
  • Maintain and update personnel records and payroll systems.
  • Process new hires, terminations, pay changes, and other employment‑related updates.
  • Assist with benefits administration including enrollment, changes, and annual renewals.
  • Prepare HR‑related documentation such as offer letters, policy acknowledgments, and compliance forms.
  • Support audits and reporting for HR, payroll, and compliance purposes.
  • Ensure all HR data and documents are handled confidentially and securely.
Recruitment & Onboarding
  • Post job openings, manage candidate pipelines, and coordinate interview schedules.
  • Facilitate background checks and prepare new hire paperwork.
  • Conduct onboarding and ensure new employees have a positive experience through their first 30 days.
Employee Relations & Engagement
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee HR and payroll inquiries.
  • Support employee engagement and recognition programs.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating internal events in partnership with the marketing team.
  • Provide guidance to employees and managers on HR policies and procedures.
Payroll
  • Review bi‑weekly payroll accurately and on time using Loan Vision. This includes: distribute payroll, commission, and deduction reports as needed.
  • Manage and verify commissions for loan officers and branch managers, ensuring all payouts are calculated and recorded accurately.
  • Monitor hourly and salary employee timecards in Insperity, ensuring hours, overtime, and paid time off are tracked accurately.
  • Verify and approve timecards each pay period in coordination with department managers.
  • Support employees and managers with timekeeping questions or corrections.
Experience:
  • 3–5 years of experience in Human Resources and/or Payroll required; banking or financial industry experience preferred.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or Business Administration preferred.
Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially with payroll and commission data.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and HR/payroll software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Collaborative team player who embodies Granite Bank’s values and culture.
