The Senior Accountant is part of the ABS Financial Operations organization and plays a key role in supporting U.S. accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Other responsibilities will include:
- Perform and coordinate general accounting activities for U.S. entities in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies. Execute month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries, completing account reconciliations, performing financial reviews, and executing other assigned close procedures within established deadlines.
- Manage assigned U.S. government reporting requirements. Prepare, analyze, and validate consolidated financial information and submit required reports accurately and on time to applicable U.S. government agencies, including the U.S. Census Bureau.
- Evaluate lease arrangements under ASC 842, including reviewing agreements for lease identification, classification, and measurement. Maintain complete and accurate lease records in the company’s lease accounting system and support related monthly accounting processes.
- Support fixed asset accounting and reporting activities in accordance with company policies and U.S. GAAP. Partner with business stakeholders to address ad hoc requests, resolve accounting and process issues, and drive improvements across end-to-end fixed asset processes.
- Review check deposits, determine the appropriate accounting treatment and application, communicate coding instructions, and research unidentified or incorrectly applied receipts through resolution.
- Prepare and post journal-entry uploads for American Express travel and expense transactions. Validate the completeness and accuracy of the underlying data and maintain appropriate supporting documentation.
- Execute assigned SOX controls in accordance with documented control procedures and established deadlines. Prepare and retain complete supporting documentation, investigate exceptions, and elevate control issues when appropriate.
- Perform monthly fluctuation and variance analyses for assigned general ledger accounts. Research significant or unexpected movements and clearly communicate the underlying business and financial drivers to relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations. Investigate reconciling items and drive the timely resolution and clearing of open items.
- Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies. Ensure journal entries are accurate, properly approved, and supported by complete and auditable documentation.
- Identify and implement process improvements using Lean principles. Support finance transformation, ERP, automation, and other cross-functional initiatives that improve accuracy, efficiency, standardization, and internal controls.
