Come join our Dignity Health Family at one of the most beautiful hospitals in California, Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta. The hospital is nestled at the base of Mt. Shasta. It is a 25 bed, critical access hospital, level III trauma center, with three rural health clinics and a new Emergency Department. Mt. Shasta is a small rural community that is sure to make your heart skip with all of the amazing outdoor wonders at your front door.
Mt. Shasta has a catchment area of 17,000 lives and is surrounded by lakes, hiking, skiing lifts and many more amazing outdoor adventures. This is an amazing opportunity to provide healthcare services to a rural community and enjoy the natural beauty of Northern California. We are currently recruiting for an FP/OB, who would be working in our clinic and hospital as an employed physician.
You would have amazing partners/and mentors. Must be qualified to handle c-sections. The current schedule is 4 days a week, 10hr days, plus 1 in 3 hospital coverage.
Year 1 estimated total comp. $337,000 + $50,000 Sign on paid at first year.
(Total Comp. includes base salary, call pay)
Relocation and student loan assistance not included in above numbers
Additional production bonus of excess WRVU of 4,400 - an average of $20,000 paid once a year
Yearly Quality Incentives Up to $16,000
Starting year 3, Retention bonus: starting at $20,000

Responsibilities of Family Medicine Physicians with Obstetrics (FMOB) in Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs)Family medicine physicians with obstetrics (FMOBs) in Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) play a crucial role in providing essential healthcare services to rural communities, including comprehensive maternity care.
Key responsibilities- Provide Comprehensive Maternity Care:
This includes prenatal care, labor and delivery, c-sections and postpartum care. This also includes managing low-risk pregnancies and assisting with surgical deliveries when needed. - Deliver Primary Care Services: FMOBs will also serve as primary care physicians (PCPs) for patients of all ages, managing chronic illnesses, providing preventative care, and offering acute care.
- Coordinate Patient Care:
This involves working with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, specialists, and administrative staff, to ensure patients receive seamless and coordinated care. - Manage High-Risk Pregnancies and Deliveries: FMOBs will use judgment and collaboration on when to transfer high-risk patients.
- Utilize Technology and Tools:
Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR) systems, practice management software, and potentially telemedicine platforms and specialized obstetric software.

Qualifications:
- Board Certification/Eligibility:
The physician should be certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). - Obstetrics Training: FMOBs must have completed residency or additional training in c-sections. On average, the hospital is doing about 30 c-sections a year, with an average of 90 deliveries.
- Scope of Practice: FMOBs at CAHs should be prepared to provide a broad range of services, including prenatal care, labor and delivery management, postpartum care, and newborn care. They should also be comfortable with managing common primary care conditions.
- Experience:
Experience in a setting with limited resources and a high degree of autonomy is often preferred.
