Northrop Grumman Space Systems is looking for an
** Principal** **/ Sr. Principal Engineer Guidance Navigation Controls
- Weapons Systems
** to support the
** Glide Phase Interceptor Program
** within the
** Launch Vehicles
** business unit in
** Chandler, Arizona** .

Designs, develops, implements, verifies and tests algorithms and software and simulation tools to perform guidance, navigation and control of aircraft, spacecraft, submersibles, surface ships, missiles, launch vehicles and upper stages during powered and coast phases of launch, flight, earth orbit, interplanetary cruise and orbital insertion, as well as during staging events. Navigation functions include the statistical processing of measured data points and their substitution into algorithms simulating physical reality.

Guidance functions include the formulation of specific equations to achieve a desired position, orientation or orbit in space. Control design and analyses processes consist of the development of the control laws and hardware and software requirements for aircraft, launch vehicles and/or spacecraft.

The Engineer/Principal GNC Engineer will design, develop, implement, verify, and test high-quality software and simulation tool chains. The candidate will be working on a 6 degree of freedom (6

DOF) simulation to design and test missile flight code. The applicant will be creating and implementing 6

DoF simulation models to evaluate system performance. The candidate will perform mission analysis on flight test and tactical systems. The engineer will need to have knowledge of missile flight dynamics. The candidate should have exposure to missile autopilot and guidance schemes. The candidate should have experience with C++ programing language, as well as Python and MATLAB.

** This position maybe offered at the Sr. Engineer GNC Level 3 or Sr. Principal GNC Level 4.**

* Basic Qualifications:

**

** If offered at the Principal Engineer GNC Level 3 requires:**

+ Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience, or a PhD and 0 years of experience.

+ Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope

+ Proficiency in creating and maintaining analysis tools in C++, MATLAB and Python

+ Proficiency in C++ development in a Linux environment

+ Proficiency in MATLAB and Python tool chains

+

Experience with high fidelity 6

DoF simulation for guided missiles

+ Experience working with missile guidance and autopilot algorithms

+ Travel 25% of the time

** If offered at the Sr. Principal Engineer GNC Level 4 requires:**

+ Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and required years of experience for level 4 as follows: 9 years of related experience or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of experience, or a PhD and 4 years of experience.

+ Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope

+ Proficiency in creating and maintaining analysis tools in C++, MATLAB and Python
