The Mechanical Estimator participates in all aspects of the bid & estimating process. The role involves performing quantity take‑offs, pricing, scoping, and bidding on projects ranging from Healthcare and Central Plant to K‑12, Higher Education, and Commercial.

• Perform quantity take‑offs and pricing of mechanical, plumbing, and process piping estimates.
• Develop and document logical assumptions during conceptual estimating activities, participate in estimate review, and assist with final assembly of estimates.
• Solicit subcontractors during the bidding process and organize information post‑bid for future reference.
• Communicate with project leads to clarify scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements.
• Conduct reviews of milestone documents to develop and price value‑alternative opportunities, identify scope changes, and recommend adjustments.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Prepare scopes of work for subcontractors and suppliers and coordinate scopes of work across disciplines.
• Maintain current, working knowledge of MEP codes and familiarity with sheet metal, hydronic, refrigeration, and plumbing systems.
• Document estimating assumptions and compile a final list of clarifications for inclusion with the estimate to the owner.
• Assist the project team in developing detailed General Conditions, including a project schedule indicating the timeline of staff, equipment, and assets.
• Aid field staff with change‑order pricing when needed.
• Attend job walks, take notes and photos for accurate scope of work.
• Coordinate with the Procurement Manager on procurement of equipment, subcontractors, and commodities.

• Ability to understand and coordinate mechanical systems with other trades.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering OR 5 years of equivalent estimating experience.
• General knowledge of construction principles, processes, and contractual delivery methods (negotiated/hard bids, GMP processes).
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Bluebeam, Win Est, and related programs.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines with an emphasis on multi‑tasking.
