Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Principal/ Quality Engineer — Level 2 or Level 3 to join our team in Chandler, AZ. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting integration and test activities for mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical assemblies used in various space launch vehicles. Specific duties may include developing processes and procedures for the assembly and test of mechanical/electronic assemblies;

reviewing and approving drawings; documenting and dispositioning hardware discrepancies and pursuing root cause and corrective actions; supporting required MRB processing; performing inspection of components and assemblies; supporting manufacturing activities with supervisors, program engineers and various customer organizations; reviewing design changes on WIP or completed assemblies; analyzing data for trends and recommending changes to improve process and product quality; interfacing with suppliers for auditing and corrective action/continuous improvement related to component assemblies and parts.

• Develop, modify, apply, and maintain quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
• Devise and implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
• Design and analyze inspection and testing processes, mechanisms, and equipment; conduct quality assurance tests; and perform statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine responsibility for products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
• Audit quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
• Ensure that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards, and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
• May specialize in design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
• May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.
• This is a dual level requirement which can be filled as a Quality Engineer (level
  2) OR Principal Quality Engineer (level
  3).

For Level 2:

• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of professional experience — OR — Master’s degree with 0 years of professional experience.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance.
• Ideal candidate shall possess related work experience working with mechanical/electrical assemblies, pneumatic systems, structures, and/or tooling.
• Work related experience demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility.
• Proficient at planning /organization, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.

For Level 3:

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of professional experience — OR — Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience — OR — PhD with 1 year of professional experience.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance.
• Ideal candidate shall possess related work experience working with mechanical/electrical assemblies, pneumatic systems, structures, and/or tooling.
• Work related experience demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility.
