The Safety Specialist is responsible for the administration of all safety, health, and environmental requirements onsite during installation and sustaining activities. This role involves ad hoc problem solving, auditing, inspections, oversight of contract safety personnel, incident investigation, and assisting with safety program and training development. The successful candidate will adopt a service-oriented approach to customers, employees, and contractors.
Job DescriptionThe Safety Specialist is responsible for the administration of all safety, health, and environmental requirements onsite during installation and sustaining activities. This role involves ad hoc problem solving, auditing, inspections, oversight of contract safety personnel, incident investigation, and assisting with safety program and training development. The successful candidate will adopt a service-oriented approach to customers, employees, and contractors.
Responsibilities- Develop, review, evaluate, and implement health and safety policies, programs, and procedures.
- Increase health and safety awareness at all levels within the organization.
- Investigate all serious/critical personal injury and near-miss incidents, assisting with root cause analysis and solution identification.
- Report on findings and follow-up on incident investigations.
- Investigate and report hazardous working conditions to staff.
- Respond to and track employee safety concerns.
- Maintain records in accordance with regulatory requirements and prepare reports.
- Provide direction for contract safety personnel.
- Conduct worksite safety inspections to recognize safe work practices and identify hazards.
- Attend meetings related to the safety of personnel.
- Assist in developing and maintaining site safety plans.
- Review pre-task plans and coordinate on-site customer-specific safety training.
- Conduct weekly safety audits and submit reports.
- Arrange for health and safety testing and evaluations as necessary.
- Act as liaison with customer personnel and contracted personnel.
- Develop and deliver assigned safety training.
- Coordinate training of personnel in safety areas including first aid, CPR, accident prevention, and workplace inspections.
- Liaise with customers regarding emergency procedures and safety education.
- Analyze work processes, perform risk assessments, and implement controls.
- Act as liaison with regulatory agencies as required.
- Support the company's commitment to a culture of safe work practices and safety excellence.
- 2+ years of EHS experience in a professional environment (manufacturing or construction).
- Experience in creating safety plans (SOPs) and conducting at least two professional safety audits.
- General knowledge of accident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Knowledgeable of OSHA regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience working with contractors and construction safety.
- Ability to creatively deliver and document training.
- Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple projects.
- Strong writing skills, including process documentation and report preparation.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team member.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and take initiative.
Skills & Qualifications
- BCSP certification (CHST, OHST, ASP, GSP) preferred.
The role involves working on-site at semiconductor clean room environments. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, day shift. The dress code is casual with provided PPE, including long pants, a long sleeve shirt, hard hat, and glasses. Must be willing and able to travel up to 90% primarily domestically, with potential international travel. A clean driving record is required.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Chandler, AZ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
