Manufacturing Engineer, Electronics Assembler
As a Mechanical Assembler (Solder) you will perform the various tasks necessary to assemble mechanical assemblies under a microscope for production. This role involves the standard assembly, soldering, and installation steps required for production line assemblies.
Responsibilities- Perform a wide variety of electrical/mechanical product assembly operations on components, assemblies, or sub‑assemblies for the defense industry.
- Receive on‑the‑job training to be certified to IPC‑J‑STD and IPC‑D‑610, which define the acceptance criteria.
- Identify electrical component values.
- Hand load PCB assembly following assembly drawings and visual aids.
- Solder various electronic component sizes following industry standards set by IPC‑J‑STD, including fine‑pitch components.
- Read, understand, and follow written instructions, engineering drawings or visual aids and incorporate callouts onto assembly.
- Solder components on PCBs under a microscope.
- Perform inspections and identify and repair soldering anomalies.
- Solder with lead‑ and lead‑free solder.
- Continuously meet or exceed production schedules and deadlines according to quality standards.
- Maintain logs, paperwork, and forms accurately, consistent with company policy and practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to work with general instruction on daily activities.
- Ability to multi‑task.
- Good mechanical aptitude.
- Must be able to work under a microscope and sit for extended periods of time.
- Experience soldering electronic components.
- Working knowledge of ESD (electrostatic discharge) prevention and product handling, preferred.
- 3–5 years of J‑STD soldering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
This position is also eligible for bonus as part of the total compensation package.
Pay RangeThe hourly salary range for this position is $17.16–$31.87.
Is this role subject to ITAR?The essential duties of this position require adherence to U.S. Government export control regulations. Candidates must either be U.S. Persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents, or protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) or be prepared to collaborate with the company in securing the necessary U.S. government export authorizations.
