School Bus Driver

Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced School Bus Driver to join our team! The VCS Bus Driver interacts daily with children and safely transports students to and from campuses and designated locations. The VCS Bus Driver will assist the Business Services Manager and Principals in coordinating the daily bus transportation needs of the K-12 school for events, field trips, and other school activities with.

He or she will make sure all VCS buses are in excellent mechanical condition, in compliance with all applicable laws, insurance, and the necessary records are maintained.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Transport children and other passengers to and from school in the VCS Bus
• Establishes annual transportation routes
• Establishes/updates transportation policies and procedures as needed
• Coordinates with various school departments for bus transportation
• Ensure the safety of all students
• Assist students with getting on and off the bus as needed
• Discipline children as needed to maintain a safe environment
• Verify permissions for children who ride home with friends
• Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route
• Ensure buses are well maintained and following a preventative and emergency maintenance schedules
• Responsible for the transportation budget
• Works with the business office to make sure that all transportation related expenses are covered in the annual budget, gas cards are reconciled, etc.
• Always maintain a clean bus
• Obeys all traffic laws
• Attend safety meetings as required
• Oversight of Vehicle maintenance may need to be performed during school breaks to ensure bus is operable upon school resuming
• Operating the bus will require travel from early morning, afternoons, and sometimes weekend
• Performs other related assigned duties

Qualifications and Skills:

• Must have and maintain a valid level one IVP fingerprint card
• Clear Driving Record with no traffic or criminal violations
• Maintain a valid Arizona driver license and valid CDL license
• Must have and maintain a valid level one IVP fingerprint card
• Must have and maintain a valid Arizona commercial class B driver license
• Must have and maintain a valid DOT physical card
• Must have current CPR certification or willingness to obtain
• Knowledge of Arizona traffic laws

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED
• Experience and training which provides the knowledge and ability to perform the essential duties of this job as those listed above
• Arizona driver license and a valid CDL license
• Level one IVP fingerprint card
• Arizona commercial class B driver license
• DOT physical card
• Minimum of one year school bus driving experience
• Clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the last five years

Preferred Skills and Knowledge:

• Mechanical aptitude
• Two or more years working with children
