The Dispatcher / Driver Manager is responsible for the planning, scheduling, and dispatching of freight to ensure safe, cost-effective, timely, and accurate deliveries. The role owns the relationship with our valued drivers, ensuring all scheduled routes have coverage. The key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to providing exceptional support to our drivers, quick responses to questions and troubleshooting concerns, and proactively monitoring the movement of freight.
We use GPS tracking on all our equipment, and a fully automated and paperless dispatch system with barcode scanning for asset tracking.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for the coordination, scheduling, dispatching, and planning of pickup and deliveries.
- Main point of contact for all drivers interfacing via dispatch system, phone, text, and e-mail.
- Develop a knowledge and understanding of our customer's products and transportation/warehousing requirements.
- Cultivating long lasting relationships and building strong rapport with our drivers, vendors, and customers.
- Offer exceptional support to our valued drivers to ensure that their professional needs are being met by developing a strong working relationship.
- Manage customer and driver expectations to align with operational capabilities.
- Respond to customers efficiently, thoroughly, and professionally.
- Plan, prioritize, and ensure routes are covered.
- Monitor driver performance, safety, and hours.
- Work cooperatively with customer service/sales to provide solutions for customers' needs and resolve issues.
- Follow and enforce all company and client policies and procedures.
- Utilize and navigate our Transportation Management System.
- Commitment to exceptional customer service.
- Supervise maintenance and repair schedules for all vehicles in timely and effective manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience required as a dispatcher in last mile/schedule and routed.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Self-motivated, problem-solver, with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Strong computer skills and working of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.
- Growth mindset, always looking to improve upon processes.
- Good oral expression, and the ability to communicate information and ideas so others understand.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening skills- giving full attention, taking the time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate/needed.

This role is based in a fast-paced office setting with modern dispatch technology, GPS tracking, and paperless systems. You'll collaborate closely with drivers, customers, and internal teams, requiring strong communication and quick problem-solving. While primarily office-based, occasional visits to the yard or warehouse may occur. We value safety, teamwork, and flexibility in a professional, high-energy environment.
