. This position creates a positive first impression to patients, registers and schedules patients accurately, and handles various administrative duties.
Base pay range: $18.89/hr - $28.03/hr
Job Functions- Efficiently register patients in person or via phone, capturing and verifying all required information to identify the patient and receive proper reimbursement for services on initial claim submission.
- Complete pre‑visit planning to ensure a seamless patient experience.
- Assign the appropriate Guarantor for each patient.
- Greet and provide courteous customer service to internal and external customers.
- Ensure patients receive necessary disclosures, privacy information, and sign Consent to Treat documentation.
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefit information using real‑time eligibility; review insurer responses and take appropriate action to ensure the proper insurance plan and billing address are entered into the system.
- Collect financial obligations from patients and/or refer patients to Patient Financial Services for financial counseling.
- Use resources, tools and procedures to complete accounts in assigned work queues.
- Coordinate requests for release of medical information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 16 years old (minimum age)
- Previous customer service experience
- Ability to meet background checks as required for the position
- Effective written and verbal communication in English
- Independent decision making with strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills
- Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office applications
- Basic math functions and cash handling accuracy
- Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Ability to multi‑task
- High school graduate or equivalent
- One year of medical office experience or completion of Medical Administrative Assistant/Medical Receptionist Certificate
- Prior electronic medical software experience
- Bilingual
Compensation is based on experience, education, and skills. Pay listed does not include shift, weekend, or other differentials.
