Estimator, Smartpress

Location: Chanhassen, MN 55317.
Shift: Monday‑Friday 8:00 am‑5:00 pm (hybrid; on site ~3 days a week).
Compensation: $56,000–$70,000 annually.
Job OverviewAs an Estimator for the Smartpress (Small Format) team, you will partner closely with Sales and Production to generate accurate, custom quotes and estimate job costs for materials, direct labor, and production hours in the small‑format print production area.
Responsibilities- Evaluate job specifications to identify the most efficient and cost‑effective production options for order completion.
- Estimate job costs based on provided specifications using established internal estimating tools.
- Maintain accuracy within estimating tools by regularly reviewing and updating pricing models to reflect current costs.
- Create product PJCs for new items in Collate rate.
- Collaborate with production teams to improve order completion efficiency and streamline workflows.
- Meet regularly with Production to review methods and materials, ensuring projects align with budget expectations.
- Coordinate with Print Partners to accurately estimate projects that fall outside internal production capabilities.
- Develop and manage a weekly estimating schedule, communicating timelines and priorities with the Print Manager and Sales team.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external vendors to support accurate execution of outsourced work.
- Support additional projects and perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Business‑oriented field or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of overall experience, with 1+ years in print and bindery industry.
- Working knowledge of print/press operations.
- Knowledge of printing processes and technologies.
- Familiarity with a variety of printing materials and their cost implications.
- Strong mathematical skills with the ability to perform accurate cost calculations.
- Ability to interpret and analyze customer and Sales team specifications and requirements.
- Effective communication skills for working with internal teams, clients, and external vendors.
- Strong time‑management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication; strong interpersonal skills and concise presentation of ideas.
