Marine Atlantic is seeking a Watchkeeping Engineer for full-time roles on our vessels, based in Port aux Basques and North Sydney. This position offers professional development within a diverse team environment.
As a Senior Engineer, your contributions will be essential in maintaining safety and operational excellence onboard our fleet. Roles are permanent, including scheduling across various vessel operations. We encourage candidates from various equity-deserving groups to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operate and monitor critical marine systems
• Conduct thorough operational checks and safety drills
• Maintain detailed operational logs and records
• Collaborate effectively with engineering staff
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols
Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years of experience in marine engineering
• Valid STCW 6.1 and 6.2 certifications
• Propulsion Plant Simulator Certificate II
• Transport Canada Marine Medical Certificate
• Ability to work in confined spaces and lift heavy items
