Site Superintendent - Mission Critical Team (Northern Virginia)The Site Superintendent is responsible for the day‑to‑day field operations of a construction site, including site logistics planning, workforce safety compliance, maintaining and updating the schedule, enforcing job‑site rules, maintaining professional client relationships, and overseeing the completion of the project. The Site Superintendent must understand all contract documents and maintain order, cleanliness, and efficiencies to produce a best‑in‑class client experience. They represent the best interests of the organization on the worksite and report all conflicts or potential disputes to the construction and/or regional manager for quick resolution.
The Site Superintendent generally oversees fewer and/or smaller work sites.
- High school diploma required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in field construction supervision.
- OSHA 30‑hour certification required.
- CPR / First‑Aid certification required.
- Graduate of an applicable trade school is preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred, including development and oversight of field crews.
- Thorough understanding of Federal, multi‑state and local construction safety regulations.
- Familiarity with construction industry practices and quality control processes and standards.
- Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement necessary corrective measures.
- Excellent team collaboration and communication skills.
- Superior interpersonal skills, such as diplomacy, persuasion, assertiveness, and managerial courage.
- Excellent ability to establish and foster effective professional relationships with others, including employees at all levels of the organization, vendors, contractors, etc.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Strong problem‑solving and conflict‑management skills.
- Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies as described in this job description.
- Assist in creating the final schedule with subcontractors and suppliers, along with internal scheduling of staff and all other internal clients.
- Provide input on the schedule of values and update project completion percentages of all activities for billing purposes.
- Police all site logistics for maximum efficiency and ensure client operations are never interrupted.
- Collaborate with the safety director to maintain strict compliance with the organization’s safety plan.
- Provide ample communication to the client to ensure the project schedule is maintained should a disruption occur.
- Collaborate with the client to accommodate union and/or non‑union labor dispute resolution as needed.
- Implement and maintain the organization’s quality control plan for the project.
- Communicate all quality concerns to the construction manager and/or regional manager and collaborate to develop action plans.
