Generator Service Technician – Data Center Community

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and ensure customers have continual access to the cloud. The Generator Service Technician plays a vital role in maintaining safety, customer satisfaction, and data center uptime by diagnosing and repairing electrical generator systems and related engine mechanical failures.

• Know and follow all company safety rules, maintain a clean, orderly work area, and participate in accident prevention and safety improvement activities.
• Respond to customer requests and serve as the primary customer support contact.
• Travel to designated sites and perform professional field service repairs consistent with company standards.
• Advise the Generator Service Manager of parts needed for necessary repairs.
• Keep the Manager updated and utilize leadership to answer customer questions when necessary.
• Document detailed, complete, legible descriptions of all repair operations performed.
• Accurately record time, expenses, and mileage.
• Travel 80‑90% of the time in an assigned region, and work overtime, weekends, or holidays on short notice when required.
• Lift up to 40 lb frequently; push or pull a maximum force of 40 lb.
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as protective glasses, gloves, and footwear as required.

• High school or equivalent diploma.
• 1+ years of experience working directly with generator systems.

• 2 years of data center or mission‑critical engineering experience.
• Training on industrial power generation equipment.
• Knowledge of engines, generators, and load‑transfer equipment.
• Knowledge of electrical systems and mechanical equipment.

Location: Washington, DC

Compensation: This position offers a base pay range of $59,600 to $133,200 per year, depending on geographic market and experience. Additional compensation may include equity, sign‑on payments, and a comprehensive benefits package.
