Mission Systems Sector, Chantilly, VA.

Basic Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and have an active Secret clearance at a minimum.
  • Minimum education and experience: 12 years with a bachelor’s degree; 10 years with a master’s degree; 8 years with a Ph.D.
  • Experience in the design and development of microelectronics, reverse engineering, and an overall understanding of custom electrical engineering techniques used in the integration of complex electrical systems in tightly constrained spaces.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering, lifecycle design, and development.
  • Knowledge of engineering development activities to include design, test, checkout, fabrication, modification, and/or assembly of electronic and electromechanical systems.
  • Experience with various computer/hardware interfaces (USB 2.0/3.x/C, RS‑232 serial port, I²C, SPI, JTAG, PCIe, SMBUS, and SATA).
  • Experience in detailed schematic capture and multi‑layer PCB layout for analog, power, and high‑speed digital circuits – Altium is a plus.
  • Knowledge of embedded firmware and hardware systems.
  • Experience developing firmware in C for Microchip PIC microcontrollers, Cypress microcontrollers, and/or NXP microcontrollers.
  • Experience or training in basic surface‑mount technology (SMT) soldering and assembly skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Candidate with a TS/SCI clearance with/without polygraph.
  • Experience with HDI PCB layout, in‑circuit debuggers, and working alongside mechanical engineers for PCB constraints.

Salary Range

Primary level: $ – $.

The above range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in VP or Director positions may be eligible for long‑term incentives. Additional benefits include health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays, and PTO for vacation and personal business.
