About the RoleJacobs is seeking a seasoned telecommunications professional to lead the design and execution of low‑voltage systems for data‑center buildings. The Senior Telecommunications Engineer will collaborate closely with clients, BIM designers, and project teams to deliver high‑quality, compliant infrastructure solutions.
Responsibilities- Lead BIM designers in the preparation of engineering drawings.
- Develop, modify, and maintain DIV 27 specifications and other industry standards.
- Conduct site visits, review technical documents, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Sign and seal telecommunications design packages.
- Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance.
- Manage relationships with clients, vendors, and project managers.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase departmental efficiency.
- Ensure multiple concurrent projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Communications Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution.
- Minimum 8 years of experience designing or leading structured cabling system projects.
- In‑depth knowledge of ANSI/TIA, BICSI, and NFPA 70 standards.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam and other design software.
- Strong project management skills and ability to coordinate across disciplines.
- Experience responding to RFPs and providing quality assurance for telecom designs.
- Experience commissioning telecommunications systems and creating project budgets and schedules.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required; ability to obtain multiple PE licenses preferred.
- Preferred: 4+ years of telecommunications design experience in data‑center environments.
- Additional knowledge of security, audio/visual, wireless, and Revit/Navisworks design platforms.
- Credential as a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) is a plus.
