Crypto Systems Engineer

Support the Directorate by evaluating and certifying the implementation, integration, and embedment of cryptography and cryptographic‑related cyber security solutions into customer‑owned or controlled Space systems, through robust cryptographic security engineering and information systems security engineering disciplines.

• Investigating and applying evolutionary and revolutionary technologies for the advancement of network architecture, development of security and management enablers, and establishment of an associated test environment.
• Coordinating cryptographic certification activities with the designated space responsible office, ensuring solutions that obtain timely certification.
• Reviewing Systems Key Management Plans (SKMP) and Key Generation Management Plans and Procedures (KGMPP).
• Evaluating and maximizing the use of Commercial Off‑The‑Shelf crypto‑enabled products.
• Supporting senior leadership in technical discussions and evaluations.
• Providing liaison support and promoting communication between the customer and external program offices and agencies through meetings and conferences.
• Developing and supporting briefing opportunities of interest for technology sponsors/mission partners.
• Resolving programmatic and technical equipment issues involving customer programs, the IC community, and the military services.
• Providing cryptographic risk assessment support for satellite programs to the designated approving official and/or Chief Information Security Officer.
• Providing cyber security advice and assistance for Space and Terrestrial acquisition, and for operational components’ plans for the design, development, manufacture, acquisition, lease, launch, life‑cycle support or operation of any DoD Space system.
• Requirements development for current and future high assurance cryptographic solutions.
• Facilitating the staffing of crypto design documentation.
• Tracking the work of other contracts related to requirements, issues, and schedules.
• Delivering programmatic expertise as required.
• Delivering cryptographic risk assessment support to programs.
• Delivering implementation and integration support for key management systems.
• Advising customer on crypto acquisition strategies.

• Clearance:
  Active TS/SCI with current Polygraph.
• COMSEC: 5+ years experience with Crypto engineering / COMSEC.

• Military / DOD / IC space and ground experience.
• Education:
  
  BS in engineering or related field.
