Responsibilities
Engineering Consulting Services (ECS) is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Environmental Industrial Hygiene team. This role is responsible to ensure that all required tasks on a project from proposal to final invoice payment are completed either by themselves or by subordinates. The Senior Project Manager is primarily responsible for the completion and overall success of the project.
The Senior Project Manager will act as the main point of contact for the client on their projects.

Key Responsibilities- Manage asbestos, lead‑based paint, mold, drinking water, legionella, dust, radon, and indoor air quality assessments and analysis.
- Support District of Columbia Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE) air quality analysis and the Environmental Impact Statement Framework (EISF) process.
- Actively mentor junior staff and support overall development of the team.
- Attend project meetings and provide solutions to technical and administrative issues as necessary.
- Market our services; maintain and further develop the client database.
- Strong ability to manage project budgets and prepare change orders; manage budgets for self and others, review change orders and invoices, and assist with collection efforts.
- Schedule, train, and oversee subordinate staff members.
- Prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
- Oversee environmental projects and manage several projects simultaneously.
- Assist junior staff with issue resolution and field staff training.
- Oversee preparation and review of proposals and change orders.
- Prepare environmental reports, perform analysis, provide recommendations, and supervise junior staff report reviews.
- Perform peer/senior review of deliverables before Principal submission.
- Host or attend project discussions with clients, following up on reports to clarify questions.
- Collaborate with other managers to make staffing decisions.
- Review daily field reports, conduct routine site visits to ensure quality and progress, mentor junior staff, and communicate project milestones with clients while advising on significant changes.
- Direct site activities and maintain continuous communication with subordinate field staff and senior managers across multiple projects.
- Apply solid understanding of sample collection, preparation, preservation, and laboratory submission regulations and guidelines.
- Independently prepare reports for Principal review; review subordinate reports before Principal review; lead client meetings and calls to present findings and conclusions.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and their implications on study findings.
- Communicate with junior staff to direct field work performed by subcontractors and other ECS technicians, managing multiple simultaneous projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s of Science in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Health, Environmental Engineering, or related environmental degree such as Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or a related Engineering field.
- 7+ years of Industrial Hygiene related experience.
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification is desired but not required.
- Experience with asbestos, mold, lead‑based paint, legionella, dust, radon, indoor air quality, industrial health and safety, and OSHA compliance.
- Experience with DOEE Air Quality Analysis and EISF process is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of environmental principles, permitting processes, regulations, and test methods.
- Extensive ability to manage and develop new clients, seeking opportunities to build relationships.
- Review and provide feedback on field and laboratory testing; perform training and/or corrective action as necessary.
- Excellent client management skills.
- Experience delegating/assigning projects and tasks to other staff while also managing multiple projects independently.
