Sr. EHS Specialist – Chantilly, VA (ONSITE ONLY)
Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
The Sr EHS Specialist develops and administers company-approved employee health programs as assigned by the Manager, EHS, follows up on employee workplace injuries/exposures at the direction of management, and maintains accurate records. The incumbent participates in new employee orientation and may perform pre‑employment physicals, actively supporting and complying with all company and departmental policies and assisting with Healthy Quest activities for the business unit.
Pay Range: $68,200+ per year. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and certifications. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.

- Develop, implement, and update procedures for preventing chemical, physical, and biohazard incidents; demonstrate proper safety precautions to supervisors and employees as needed.
- Perform standard EHS Specialist duties.
- Review and investigate employee exposures and injuries with the EHS Manager/Specialist; develop action plans to reduce incident rates.
- Render post‑exposure treatment per the Standard Operating Policy.
- Develop and implement a pre‑employment health assessment and arrange required physical examinations, including drug screening; coordinate with HR selection and orientation processes.
- Assist the Manager, EHS in conducting training as requested.
- Develop and execute an ongoing employee education program to heighten awareness and reduce workplace incidents.
- Administer emergency treatment to Quest Diagnostics employees, including injections, oxygen, cardiac resuscitation, etc.
- Administer and follow up on laboratory‑initiated medical prevention programs (e.g., vaccines).
- Maintain confidential health records for employees at increased risk for medical/surgical emergencies, providing prompt emergency care when needed.
- Submit written management reports detailing activities as requested.
- Serve as a source of accurate information regarding biohazard exposures and general safety, encouraging a healthful lifestyle.
- Active member of Quest Diagnostics Safety Committee.
- Train and recertify Security Officers and other personnel in basic life support and first aid.
- Maintain adequate equipment, certification requirements, and supplies.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Associates or BS degree in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) or Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification, OHS Specialist, or Industrial Hygienist.
Required Work ExperienceMinimum of 3 years in the safety field. Position is ONSITE only.
Preferred Work ExperiencePrevious general supervision, training experience, and personal computer skills.
Physical and Mental RequirementsAbility to sit or stand for long periods of time.
Knowledge- Broad knowledge of all applicable governmental regulations.
- Strong interpersonal skills necessary to educate and communicate with all levels of employees.
- Spanish bilingual skills preferred.
- Aptitude for organizing, planning, and implementing employee programs.
- Ability to make decisions under emergency situations.
- Ability to coordinate work with other departments for smooth and efficient operations.
- Ability to maintain accurate logs and records.
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
