Registered Nurse (RN) – Acadia Healthcare
Location: Northern Virginia Adolescent Treatment Center, 4211 Walney Rd, Chantilly, VA 20151
Schedule: Full-Time Day or Night Shift – 12-hour, 7A-7P / 7P-7A

- Provide and coordinate care by assessing patients’ physical and behavioral health needs.
- Develop and implement nursing care plans.
- Maintain medical records and educate patients and their families about various physical or behavioral health conditions.
- Provide nursing care within the standards and scope of nursing practice as defined by state Nurse Practice Act regulations, policies, procedures, and protocols, as well as facility and corporate policies.
- Ensure physicians’ orders are legible if taken verbally and transcribed appropriately per policy and procedure.
- Assess patients’ status on an ongoing basis and document pertinent information.
- Notify physicians of significant changes in status such as difficulties with detox, medical emergencies, changes in medication response, and related challenges.
- Complete initial nursing treatment plans upon admission, specific to assessed needs.
- Demonstrate knowledge and use of universal precautions in direct patient care.
- Accurately administer medications per ordered note.
- Document accurate counts of controlled substance medication administration on required documents.
- Complete admission and discharge processing efficiently and accurately as directed.
- Maintain therapeutic rapport with patients by respecting boundaries, personal space, and giving direct attention while maintaining rational detachment.
- Provide direction or coordinate unit activities as directed.
- Communicate therapeutically and professionally with patients, visitors, co-workers, and others involved in inpatient treatment.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current registered RN license recognized by the state of employment or eligibility to practice per state requirements.
- At least one year of nursing experience; prior psychiatric, mental, behavioral, or substance use nursing experience is a plus.
- CPR, de-escalation, and restraint certification required (training available upon hire).
- First aid may be required per state or facility policies.
