Overview
The Facilities Outdoor Services Technician is responsible for all aspects of outdoor maintenance operations, including groundskeeping, landscaping, equipment maintenance, and snow/ice removal. This role ensures that all outdoor service activities are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The position includes execution of daily work tasks, maintaining equipment, and providing logistical and operational support for special events and emergency response.
The ideal candidate has strong skills, technical knowledge of landscaping and mechanical systems, and experience with outdoor service operations in dynamic, weather-sensitive environments.
- Adhere to daily work schedules to ensure timely completion of projects and maintenance tasks.
- Monitor the quality and safety of work performed, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards.
- Provide hands-on support during daily operations and special projects. Respond to operational issues, customer requests, and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on landscaping and snow removal equipment (e.g., mowers, blowers, trimmers, irrigation systems).
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems as needed.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts inventory.
- Coordinate with external vendors or service providers for specialized repairs.
- Support snow and ice removal plans for all facility grounds, including parking lots, walkways, and access points.
- Maintain inventory of snow/ice removal materials and equipment.
- Must be able to obtain TS/SCI w/ Poly Clearance
- Minimum of 1 years of experience required.
- Hands-on experience operating and maintaining landscaping equipment.
- Basic understanding of small engine repair, hydraulics, and mechanical/electrical systems.
- Experience with snow removal operations, including equipment use and deployment strategies.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including snow, rain, and extreme temperatures.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks independently.
- Physically capable of lifting heavy equipment, standing for long periods, and performing manual labor.
- Certifications in small engine repair, landscaping equipment, or related trades.
- CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) or certification in heavy equipment operation (e.g., skid steer, front loader, snowplow).
- OSHA 10/30-Hour Safety Certification focused on construction or outdoor maintenance.
- Certified Irrigation Technician or knowledge of irrigation systems.
- Pesticide Applicator Certification for the application of fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides.
- Knowledge of horticulture, plant care, and landscaping best practices.
