Amentum is seeking a Director of Business Development (BD) to lead strategic business development efforts within the Intelligence and Cyber (I&C) Business Group. This position oversees a team of business development and account management professionals and is responsible for growing and qualifying an executable pipeline, develop account plans for all major customers and supporting strategies and engagement objectives to capture opportunities ranging from near- to long-term.
The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of the IC with an emphasis in Military Intelligence. This position reports to the Senior VP of Growth and Strategy for the I&C Business Group. The primary work location is Herndon/Chantilly, VA. This position requires travel up to 25%. Responsibilities
* Leadership and Team Management
* Lead and mentor a team of BD professionals for the I&C market.
* Oversee business development efforts across multiple simultaneous opportunities.
* Collaborate across the P&L organizations and the Growth and Strategy team to align business goals and objectives.
* Customer Engagement
* Represent Amentum at industry events, conferences, and forums to build visibility and network with stakeholders.
* Cultivate and strengthen operational and executive relationships with IC customers to shape opportunities.
* Represent I&C Business Group and collaborate with other Amentum business groups to pursue cross-functional opportunities.
* Lead client engagements, negotiations, and strategy workshops.
* Pipeline Management and Opportunity Identification
* Identify and qualify a robust pipeline, ensuring alignment with strategy and growth objectives.
* Provide pipeline analysis and assessment.
* Opportunity Qualification
* Maintain and grow the quality of the opportunity assessment process, including early-stage black hats, price-to-wins, budget analysis and engagement strategies.
* Develop initial win strategies and differentiated value propositions.
* Build and foster internal and external industry teaming partnerships. Basic Qualifications
* Must have an Active Top Secret US Government Clearance with polygraph.
Note:
US Citizenship is required to maintain a Top-Secret Clearance with polygraph.
* Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of intelligence-related business development and/or capture experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
* Deep understanding of one of the following capabilities within the IC: IT, SW development, Cyber Security, or Intelligence Analysis.
* A proven track record of successful business development or capture management above $100M related to IC customers within the Washington-Virginia area.
* Experience in building and managing an opportunity pipeline.
* Experience leading multi-million-dollar business development/capture effort(s) such as teaming, assessing win probability, and executing customer call plans to shape acquisitions and win business.
* Team leadership experience (including virtual team management); ability to work through others who do not report to you to obtain objectives.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills and experience briefing executives.
* Experience utilizing a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool, Microsoft 360 programs, and SharePoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master's degree in business administration, cybersecurity, or other disciplines complimentary to the organization's core service offerings
* Deep understanding of two or more of the following capabilities within the IC: IT, SW development, Cyber Security, or Intelligence Analysis.
* Customer relationships in the Military Intelligence community (DIA, INSCOM, etc)
* Experience managing a pipeline greater than $5B or pursuing opportunities greater the $1B.
